ABOUT US

First, we’re not just friendly, we’re friends! Our primary belief is that everyone (no exceptions!) is created in the loving image of God, who is love itself.

Second, in everything we do, we strive to live our mission: By the power of Christ, we are blessed to be a blessing!

PRELUDE + CHIMING OF THE HOUR

“Christians, We Have Met to Worship”

(MUSIC: HOLY MANNA, arr. B. Thoreson)

CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 15)

The Lord is our strength and our might;

God is our salvation!

This is our God; we will praise him,

our father’s God, we will exalt him!

The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is God’s name.

We will give praise to God, for God alone

saves, forgives, delivers, and judges.

Thanks be to God!

HYMN OF PRAISE

“Let Us with a Gladsome Mind”

(MONKLAND)

OPENING PRAYER

(pray together)

Your mercies, loving God, shall endure, ever faithful and ever sure. We give you thanks that you hold us close in the Spirit, mindful of our needs and the desires of our hearts. As we worship you this day, keep us mindful of the ways you bless all your chi ldren. In the name of Christ we pray, Amen!

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

(pray together)

God of grace, we confess that we fail to live in harmony with others. We are self - righteous in our attitudes, closed - minded in our beliefs, and judgmental in our opinions. Forgive our sins of discord and conceit. By your Spirit, help us to be charitable in our regard for others so that we may dwell in peace with Christ, who is Lord of all. Amen.

DECLARATION OF FORGIVENESS

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

Thanks be to God!

SCRIPTURE READING - THE EPISTLE LESSON

Romans 14:1-12

14 Welcome those who are weak in faith, but not for the purpose of quarreling over opinions. 2 Some believe in eating anything, while the weak eat only vegetables. 3 Those who eat must not despise those who abstain, and those who abstain must not pass judgment on those who eat; for God has welcomed them. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on servants of another? It is before their own lord that they stand or fall. And they will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

5 Some judge one day to be better than another, while others judge all days to be alike. Let all be fully convinced in their own minds. 6 Those who observe the day, observe it in honor of the Lord. Also those who eat, eat in honor of the Lord, since they give thanks to God; while those who abstain, abstain in honor of the Lord and give thanks to God.

7 We do not live to ourselves, and we do not die to ourselves. 8 If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.

10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. 11 For it is written,

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall give praise to God.”

12 So then, each of us will be accountable to God.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
